Nasarawa State House of Assembly Committee on Pilgrimage has rated high the budget performance of the Nasarawa State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board.
Chairman of the committee Aliyu Ibrahim Nana gave the indication when he led other members of the committee on an oversight function in the board.
Ibrahim Nana who noted that over 80 percent of the budget was strictly implemented, applauded the Executive Secretary of the board for a successful 2023 Hajj operation.
In their separate contributions during the visit members of the Committee Hudu A. Hudu, Suleiman Azara and Isimbabe Muhammad both said the visit was aimed at accessing the budget performance and advice appropriately where necessary.
The committee members applauded the Executive Secretary for entrenching transparency in the activities of the Board by operating within the budget limit.
Earlier, the Executive Secretary Nasarawa State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board Mallam Idris Almakura who briefed the committee on the just concluded 2023 Hajj operation also hinted the members on the preparations for the 2024 Hajj operation.
Mallam Almakura said the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria NAHCON has allocated 2009 Hajj seats to the State for 2024 Hajj, stressing that all intending pilgrims are expected to deposit the sum of 4.5 million naira before the announcement of the final Hajj fare.
The committee promised to support the board to achieve its goals.
