The Director General, Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Laminu Rabi’u Danbappa, has urged the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON, to secure government-priced dollars for intending pilgrims in the 2024 Hajj.

Danbappa made the call at a meeting with Arewa New Agenda during a sensitization visit to Kano from the National Hajj Commission, held today at his office.

In a statement by Sulaiman A Dederi, Public Relations Officer of the board on Thursday in Kano, the DG noted that the increased cost of this year’s Hajj and the limited payment timeframe are significant obstacles causing delays in deposit payments.

Responding, Dr. Muhd Lawan Salisu, the team leader of Arewa New Agenda from the National Hajj Commission, assured the Director General that they are committed to collaborating with relevant authorities, including the Sultan, to appeal to the President for the provision of Hajj subsidies.

Dr. Lawan Salisu pledged to explore all possible avenues to facilitate a smoother and more accessible pilgrimage experience.

In his remarks, the Chairman Board of Directors, Alh Yusuf Lawan, said the Board remains dedicated to ensuring the well-being and convenience of all Hajj participants, working in tandem with the National Hajj Commission to address challenges and enhance the overall pilgrimage process.

The meeting accommodated all management staff of the Board, Local Government Hajj Centre officers, and some of the Hajj Induction Course Teachers.
