In a groundbreaking initiative aimed at promoting the health and spiritual well-being of its travelers, the national flag carrier of Saudi Arabia has introduced ProtecTasbih, the world’s first sanitizing prayer beads.

Timed perfectly for the holy month of Ramadan and the Umrah season, a period that witnesses a significant influx of guests and pilgrims, this innovative product is set to redefine the traditional use of prayer beads.

Developed in collaboration with creative agency partners, ProtecTasbih seamlessly blends the spiritual practice of tasbih with the added advantage of hand sanitization. This groundbreaking approach signifies a harmonious convergence of cultural reverence and modern health consciousness.

The prayer beads utilize tea tree oil for its effective antibacterial properties and are crafted using a specialized molding technique. This technique integrates the oil into a semi-solid compound, resulting in solid beads that actively sanitize the hands during use.

Mr. Essam Akhonbay, VP of Marketing at Saudi Airlines, underscores the airline’s unwavering commitment to passenger well-being, stating, “At Saudia, our dedication to the well-being of all our guests is paramount. We take pride in introducing a unique product that enhances the pilgrimage experience, allowing our guests to fully immerse themselves in their spiritual journey.”

ProtecTasbih will be made available on board for all Saudia guests, ensuring a healthier and more sanitary pilgrimage journey. Furthermore, these innovative beads have been distributed throughout the holy city of Makkah, contributing to the health and safety of pilgrims in this sacred setting.
